Many thanks everyone for your well wishes :) I will be floating around here and there. You can still follow me on Twitter now @dahliamtl, although it will no longer be entirely fashion-related.

It was honestly a pleasure to encounter a frank and down-to-earth fashion blogger as yourself, not to mention the fact that you are a fellow Montrealer. I enjoyed reading your articles. They've exposed me to a steadily growing fashion scene in Montreal that I wasn't aware enough of before. Although I wish you the best of luck in your present and future endeavors, I do hope you will reconsider blogging on fashion again, perhaps with a different take, if that's what'll motivate you to do it again!

Hi lilas,

To my recollection, the clothes may have been worn at a point, but compared to other vintage stores, these are in top notch (almost brand new) condition. The owner refurbishes all of her items, so whatever you're getting (including the shoes) have very minimal scuff marks, definitely no lipstick or makeup marks. So you're in good hands!

The store is quite tidy, it's not cluttered and there's no weird smell. It's like walking into any other clothing store. It's not a huge store, so the clothes you see are switched up according to trend and season. If you're looking for anything specific, I'm sure she'll be happy to find something for you.

I'm being exposed to so much post-war material at school, I'm getting uber nostalgic and craving some vintage in my wardrobe. Good to know that this place is cheap, but is all of the clothing worn/used? I don't mind buying used accessories (it would actually give the item more significance for me) but feel slightly squeamish about wearing some stranger's hand-me-downs.

Dear lilas,

Thanks so much for your numerous comments on my blog!

Indeed, as I've further gone into writing about fashion, and have put in numerous hours just researching on how to pitch ideas for magazines and newspaper, I was also appalled at what I've found in the process. It's nothing but advertorials nowadays, and editors perhaps receive tons of pitches on serious issues but opt to choose for more mass public appeal than taking a stance on particular issues. But I will play devil's advocate and say that perhaps some editors don't have a choice to do so in order to keep sales and profits afloat. After all, most publications are dealt with corporate giants whose sole aim is to make a profit, not to make a difference in women's lives on an intellectual level.

I think in some ways it is because of this perverseness in the fashion editorial industry that spurns me to write more critical articles, rather than regurgitating press releases. I think there will be eventually a backlash in having some start ups who will create the intellectual fashion publications we're looking for. Until then, I will continue on for the sake of not letting true fashion criticism slip through the cracks.

You put into words the exact same dilemma that had been occupying my mind a few years ago. My dream had (and still kind of is) been to write for a fashion magazine out of a genuine interest for fashion and women's issues in general. But soon enough, the superficial coverage of these two topics (especially the former) in most magazines turned me off tremendously and made glittery-eyed 17 year old me feel hopeless. I know that at the end of the day, one must make a living, but I cannot devote my education, my time, my life really, into a career that does not make me feel like I'm making a difference - a positive one!
Having said that, fashion still occupies a huge spot on my small but meaningful list of interests and let me assert that your blog has reinforced this interest at a time when it was dwindling. Your take on fashion is fresh indeed - it's unbiased and critical without being bitchy. Please keep it going!
