Fashion Magazine Launch Parties

I’ve never been to any sort of magazine launch party, so this year will be my first. I’m not expecting them to be that much different from a press cocktail, which means standing around drinking and schmoozing for two hours and hearing about 30 mins of thanking everyone for coming and telling us what the magazine is about. I’m half expecting to walk away with a free issue, if I do get one, I’ll let you know what I think of it.

I did check out Eye Candy The Volumes a while back at Chapters. I was more impressed with their digital version than the real one. The photos are absolutely stunning, but the book version isn’t as impressive. I know I’m being biased because of Clear, but if I’m going to buy a textless magazine, make it worth my while and put some budget into the quality of the book!

This year we have a few fashion magazine launches, but I’ll only be attending [dress to] Kill Magazine’s cocktail party. There will also be Zink Magazine’s Canadian launch party on Thursday night, but it’s by invitation only.

Lastly, there’s Naked Eye Magazine’s Music launch which will be held at Times Supper Club at Club Opera** on Wednesday night, a party that’s way too out of my league for these old bones to attend. The flyer says that it will also be a Paparazzi event where guests are expected to dress up and working the red carpet entrance when they arrive at the club.

I don’t know if there will be any photos worth taking of but if there are I will let you know.
