Hi Janet,

If you're talking about the Montreal Fashion & Design Festival going on this week, then yes I think you should definitely check it out for kicks and freebies given out on the street. It's open to the public so the majority will be standing to watch the numerous fashion shows.

As for the YSL exhibition I haven't had a chance to go yet since I'm still in Japan for my vacation, but I will definitely make a round this summer before it leaves for San Francisco. Also a shame that he passed away this past weekend :(

I hope that helps, and thanks for stopping by!

For bloggers it's currently a dicey situation, fashion bloggers are still new to the media scene and they're least likely to let you in if your blog is still new.

But that doesn't mean it's not possible. Some bloggers have gained international attention for their work like The Satorialist and have been hired by the likes of Vogue for Style.com to photograph people during Fashion Week. And some beauty bloggers have been given the royal treatment in being sent beauty samples and flown into NYC to give them a tour of their company in hopes of gaining favorable reviews on their blogs.

I haven't heard yet about Toronto or other Canadian fashion weeks allowing bloggers on the scene, but it wouldn't hurt to try. My guess is that they'll eventually let the most popular bloggers to cover fashion week in the future. The more connections you have in the industry, the more likely they'll let you in. As the saying goes, it's not how much you know, it's who you know. Good luck!

Thanks for this post. I'd like to attend TO Fashion Week in March - to write about collections on my (relatively new) fashion blog. Curious to know if it's straight-forward to gain media accrediation or if, for bloggers, this isn't easily accomplished. Feedback? K
