Crocs Dispose Employees and ‘World’ is Downsized
Things aren’t looking too good for some people in the fashion biz. Foam Creations, a Quebec manufacturing company who makes the famed Colorado-based Crocs, are laying off 260 workers because “they were temporary workers” (probably holiday season helpers) and that it’s a normal cyclical change during this time of year.
I don’t mean to hate on businesses in general, but thank god. We don’t need any more of those ugly shoes in the country!
Meanwhile, 20 stores of Le Monde Des Athlètes (Athletes World) will be shutting down around the city by next week. The remaining 3 left in the city can be found in the Eaton Centre, Fairview in Pointe-Claire, and Les Galeries D’Anjou. There’s been a recent takeover by Forzani Group Ltd. of Calgary, which also owns Sport Experts. Overall they’re slashing 37 stores across the country, downsizing it to 100 stores.
Is it just me or have I not noticed any efforts whatsoever from these sports stores to promote these businesses and grow? You’d think some companies would put up a fight in trying to turn things around, but they’re so money conscious it’s just easier to cut their losses by laying people off and shutting down stores.
