H&M’s Flagship Store Opens Fall 2008
A quick blog before I go sleep, although I can’t always have the finger on the fashion trigger, it’s better late than never to announce this!
H&M’s Montreal Flagship store will be set to make its home on the corner of Peel and St-Catherine in Fall 2008. The SAQ and Rogers store that used to be there have moved out and there’s a huge Tristan ad tarp covering the building. At first I thought it was rather a bold move for Tristan to put such a huge ad on a building, but it’s temporary. The folks at H&M will acquire that part of the building (next to HMV) in March 2008.
You’ll no longer have to trek all the way to the Rockland Center or Pointe-Claire, although which type of collection it will have will remain to be seen. I went to the Carrefour Laval this past weekend and their H&M only held the uber trendy stuff, none of the stylish office look like in the Rockland Center.
I am hoping for the latter.

well it is about time! I always wondered why they waited so long to plant themselves downtown. the place will be constantly packed…and you know everyone will be rocking the same accessories!!
by the way, I suggest hitting up the south shore for your H&M fix in the meantime. Take the 45 bus from Bonaventure and cross the bridge, then its a 5 minute walk to Mail Champlain. In there you will find a great H&M and a Zara nearby. I love this because it is never busy so its like i have the store and its respective sales all to myself!

It was long speculated that H&M would take up residence at the old Caban store corner McGill and St-Catherine but that went to Banana Republic, I think I read that the store was too small for H&M (I’m wondering just how big it should be!). So far the biggest H&M I’ve been to was in Toronto and it was 3 floors of clothes!
I haven’t been to the Mail Champlain in ages! I wonder how it looks now, I hear South Shore is really booming with shops and restaurants now. Thanks for tip though
I can’t wait for the downtown store though, I’m such a cheapskate these days, I only shop at H&M, lol.
