Fashion and Music

Ever since watching the epitomous Fashion Rocks 2003 on the tele, it has reinforced me to believe that music plays a huge role in making a fashion show enjoyable. There are many great musical discoveries I’ve made since watching a number of fashion shows and Sex and the City.

What a playboy!!

Among the shows I’ve seen during the Montreal Fashion & Design festivals, artists include Stefie Shock with his sexy toned “Salut Chantal” and DJ Killa Jewel, a rare female DJ who’s also part of DJ band Microtone Kitchen. From Sex and The City, I’ve fallen for Canadian flamenco player Jesse Cook (whose song “Tempest” was featured in “Ex and the City”) to Kristy MacColl’s cheeky “In These Shoes.

As far as Fashion Rocks is concerned, all the ones that came after the one held at the Prince Royal Albert Hall have paled in comparison, I didn’t even bother watching the American versions since it all felt much too commercial and didn’t even feature models and musical artists together. The 2003 British show is still the best as far as I’m concerned.

Duran Duran “Girls on Film” for Donna Karan

Since there doesn’t seem to be a DVD compilation in sight for the 2003 show, I leave you with some Youtube clips. It’s unfortunate they don’t have Skin’s “Faithfulness” for Gucci because it is AMAZING! Falling rose petals and beautiful dresses, such a shame. If only I knew how to transfer VHS onto a computer!

Beyonce “Baby Boy/Crazy in Love” for Giorgio Armani

Saving the best for last!
